Welcome to the first issue of ‘AMR Aware News’, a voice for the AMR Aware Canada collaboration, annual campaign, and CAN AMS! webinar series.
What’s New in 2025?
Welcome to the first issue of AMR Aware News
Many of you will recognize AMR Aware Canada as the annual collaborative campaign to build awareness of antimicrobial resistance in Canada during World AMR Awareness Week (WAAW)—coming up again this year, November 18–24. Many of you joined us in 2024 for the exciting launch of our new name and refreshed campaign brand.
Now in 2025, we’re expanding our efforts beyond the once-a-year campaign. AMR Aware Canada is becoming a year-round initiative, and we’re growing a national community committed to tackling antimicrobial resistance (AMR) together. It’s a year for outreach, to find others committed to controlling AMR.
This new e-bulletin is part of that effort. In each issue, we’ll bring you timely updates from across the AMR space—including campaign activities, resources, events, and success stories from partners like you.
Stay informed through this AMR Aware News, or visit the News page on our website to stay up-to-date on:
- Campaign and collaboration updates – including how you can get involved
- Event alerts – such as the popular CAN AMS! webinar series, featuring examples of stewardship interventions
- Partner events and conferences
- New and featured resources to support your AMR awareness work
We’re excited to reintroduce ourselves—and to reconnect with the many individuals and organizations who helped build this initiative. Whether you’ve been involved from the start or are just joining us now, we’re glad you’re here.

Raising ‘Meaningful’ Questions at the 2025 AMR Symposium
AMR Aware Canada is proud to take part in the upcoming 2025 AMR Symposium, a hybrid event hosted by bioMérieux Canada in collaboration with key partners in the antimicrobial resistance field.
This year’s theme, “Preserve Antimicrobial Effectiveness: Acting Today for Future Generations,” calls on all of us to move from raising awareness to taking meaningful action.
As part of the Symposium program, AMR Aware Canada will present “An Invitation to Make AMR More Meaningful.” Through interactive polling, we’ll invite attendees to reflect on what drives their professional or personal commitment to tackling AMR. These insights—rooted in real stories and motivations—will help us better understand how to support and amplify the messages that resonate with Canadians.
Your voice can help shape the next chapter of the AMR Aware Canada campaign. Join us at this important event to be part of the conversation.
